INTRODUCING THE HvH PHOTOGRAPHY ACADEMY
We are excited to launch the HvH Photography Academy.
The HvH Photography Academy delivers highly educational, bespoke photography programmes. The Academy offers fee-paying courses, which directly support our charitable mission by enabling us to provide free places for beneficiaries. This model ensures equal opportunities, allowing young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to access high-quality photography education as part of the core ethos of HvH Arts.
What is the HvH Arts Photography Academy?
Our photography academy is aimed at students interested in photography who would like to develop an everlasting knowledge of the craft and build a professional portfolio for their future.
The academy teaches a 4-level course covering an in-depth understanding of the camera and lighting, while aiding the development of your own voice using photography. We will explore the genres of photography so that you can find your space in the medium, all culminating in a final exhibition that will give your work exposure and build up a professional portfolio.
The structure, teaching, and experience you receive through the academy are unique, as it is equivalent to GCSE-Level Photography.
What will I learn at the Academy?
The Academy begins with introductory courses about mastering the camera and includes different levels to accelerate into and develop your skills. Certificates are awarded at the end of each level. We focus on teaching photography as a whole subject, including its history and most influential photographers, to develop the student’s understanding and appreciation of the art of photography.
This is not just a one-off course; the academy will tailor to your level of photography and carry you through the levels to guide and provide you with experience in your chosen genre of photography, such as street or fashion. As you progress through the levels, you learn more about photographers and techniques in the industry and eventually find your own voice.
You will then practice and master your technique, including shooting and editing your photos with constant support and feedback from professionals in the industry, such as Susana Hill and Debbi Clark, our CEO and Founder. We give all students professional prints at the end of the course so that they can build their portfolio as they progress throughout the Academy.
How do I sign up?
To give the most efficient and effective training to each student, we are offering a maximum of 6 places in this course. However, more places are available for the bespoke courses offered by the Photography Academy.
Additionally, if students don’t want to commit to the entire academy but only have a specific interest in editing or just want to try a certain style of photography before committing, then a bespoke course may be a better fit for you. You can sign up for our bespoke summer courses below.

Our bespoke courses can provide you with all the training and information you need about certain aspects of photography such as our 3-Day Intro to Photography and Lightbox Course or our 2-Day Fashion Photography Course. Book onto a bespoke course by clicking one of the buttons below!
If you are interested in further study after completing a bespoke course, then you are also able to continue into the Academy to complete one level. Once you have your certificate and professional prints, then you have the opportunity to progress to the next level or leave the Academy. This gives you the freedom and independence to direct your own education at your pace.

Beneficiary Story
Anastasiia, one of our beneficiaries and youth ambassadors, recently completed Level 2 of the Photography Academy (see her work right). Anastasiia was first involved in our ‘Cultivating Careers Program’ and as a part of this, she chose photography as her personal medium. Upon seeing her excellent progress and passion, she was streamlined into our Photography Academy to hone and practice her skills.
