Fashion Show at the British Museum
Funded by Camden Alive with fashion partners from Made in Camden
This project was aimed at young people in our community teaching them how to create sustainable fashion.
The project was a huge success, we took this opportunity to create an incredible short documentary on this project which was shot by our scholars on our ’Sir Hubert von Herkomer Arts Scholarship Program’.
Our talented young people were so confident in their fashion designs, which was supported by prolific artist ‘Zoe Grace’ throughout this project. They relished showing off their fantastic designs, modelling in the Fashion Show at The British Museum. We took our photography scholars along to give them the unique experience of shooting a live event in film and photography. The event was a momentous occasion being hosted by our ambassador Sadie Frost.
Creative Writing and Costume Design
Funded by John Lyon's Charity
This spring term, students embarked on an exciting weekend project: writing and illustrating their own original storybooks. Inspired by their unique characters, they then designed and created costumes under the guidance of our Fashion Design Tutor, Lola Turner.
The project culminated in a spectacular celebration where students brought their characters to life through a short film, story readings in full costume, and a photoshoot with Professional Photographer Susana Hill.
Crochet and Afternoon Tea
Funded by John Lyon's Charity
The aim of this project was for our young people to have a safe place to meet new friends from new schools and talk freely whilst creating.
Inspired by cherished childhood memories of a comforting blanket, a beloved cardigan, or a favourite hat, our young artists embarked on a memorable creative journey under the guidance of Art Tutor Catherine Onyac. Through the art of crochet and knitting, they shared stories, forged new bonds, and created their own unique masterpieces.
This project continued every weekend over 2024 Autumn and 2025 Spring Term, creating a sense of community and connection for our young people. It was such a success that Young Camden Foundation invited us to exhibit the children’s final pieces at the ‘Through Open Doors: An Exploration of Youth Work in Camden’ Exhibition.
MADE IN CAMDEN
In partnership with Camden Alive. With Debbi Clark, Mark Hall and Roland Mouret.
Young people experience guest designers Mark Hemmingway, Melanie Press and Iris Law coming along to support and inspire this fantastic project. Using the theme ‘IDENTITY’ our young people learn fashion design/ textiles /fabric printing and designing their own creation with charity project ‘Made in Camden’. Roland Mouret sponsored us with amazing fabrics with support from British artist Zoe Grace.
STYLE YOUR OWN FASHION SHOOT
With photographer Debbi Clark, Make-up Artist Buster Knight and editorial/ fashion stylist Stephen Hamilton.
This project was a chance to see how the professionals work in the eclectic fashion/editorial world of Fashion. We gave our young people the insight of how they can style and create a look for their own fashion shoot.
We created a mood board to brainstorm ideas in this brilliant workshop and created a fashion set and shot visions with photographer DEBBI CLARK giving support to our young people using the OLYMPUS EPL-8 cameras. Further assisting our young people with the opportunity to create their very own fashion cover.
