- Holiday Activities and Food programme supports low income families with free enriching activities and nutritious meals
HvH ARTS in Camden has won the Childcare Works Award for its Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) club at this year’s Holiday Activities and Food Awards. The accolade was presented for their work in giving providing children from low-income families with access to free, nutritious food and engaging activities over the school holidays.
Hundreds of thousands of children across England attend the clubs nationwide, which support parents with childcare costs over the Christmas, Easter and summer holidays, offering children enriching activities such as football, play sessions and cooking classes.
HvH ARTS demonstrated an exceptional commitment to providing engaging activities for children during the holidays, through its enrichment activities for young people and its use of art to breakdown social isolation and promote good environment and sustainability practices.
Debbi Clark, CEO of HvH ARTS said:
“The HAF programme is the difference between our children spending their holidays in overcrowded homes or out on the streets, missing the healthy meal that they’d get at school – or with us at HvH ARTS, safe and not hungry, learning new skills, developing their creativity, having fun and making art which inspires them and others around them. We’re so proud to win this award recognising our much-loved holiday arts programmes in photography, dance cooking, screen-printing and more – all thanks to HAF.”
Around 600,000 children benefited from the overall programme over summer 2022 across over 8,000 clubs, events or organised activities in England.
Minister Claire Coutinho, Minister for Children, Families and Wellbeing, said:
“Our Holiday Activities and Food Programme gives children across the country access to incredible experiences during the holidays, helping to make friends and create memories through enriching and fun activities. Sir Hubert von Herkomer Arts Foundation has gone above and beyond in offering an experience like no other which is why they’re this year’s winner of the Childcare Works Award.”
James Hempsall OBE, Childcare Works said:
“HAF is both ambitious and life-changing and we are privileged to play our small part in its continued success.
